Lucknow: Two books by author and scholar Dr Vidyasagar Upadhyay, who has written 24 works, were released at the Uttar Pradesh Press Club in Lucknow on the occasion of Hindi Diwas. The programme was organised by the Lucknow unit of the Akhil Bharatiya Sahitya Parishad and was followed by a literary discussion on the two works.
The books released were Sankranti Ka Sanhar and Kaal Yatra: Ved Se Berlin Tak. Published by Advik Prakashan, Sankranti Ka Sanhar is a historical novel based on the Third Battle of Panipat, fought on January 14, 1761. The novel explores the decisive historical episode through human emotions, political insight and literary imagination, while drawing extensively on documented historical facts.
- Kaal Yatra: Ved Se Berlin Tak*, published by Benzai Prakashan, Sultanpur, is a collection of stories that traces an intellectual and cultural journey from the Vedic period to the modern world. Through fiction, the collection explores various dimensions of Indian knowledge traditions, culture, history and contemporary global consciousness.
The literary discussion was chaired by Nirbhay Narayan Gupta, president of the Lucknow unit of the Parishad. Critic Dr Rinki Manikarnika, the chief speaker, examined the literary, historical and ideological dimensions of both books. Speaking about Sankranti Ka Sanhar, she noted that the author had undertaken extensive research to compile historical material. On Kaal Yatra, she highlighted its engagement with Indian intellectual traditions, culture, history and modern global thought.
The programme was conducted by Dr Mamta Pankaj. Among those present were Rajrajeshwar Prabhakar Narayan Rao Peshwa, a descendant of Peshwa Bajirao Ballal Bhatt; former Vice-Chancellor of Ara University Acharya Dharmendra; former CMO Dr Anil Mishra; Mahendra Bhishma; Dr Narendra Bhushan; Seema Madhurima; Dr Shiveshwar Dutt Pandey; Dr Vijay Pratap Arya; Dr Anil Kumar Tiwari; Indrajit Tiwari Nirbhik; Rajiv Vatsal; Karunanidhi Tiwari; Ved Prakash Dwivedi; Dr Jaiprakash Tiwari; Dr Asha Shaili and other members of the literary and intellectual community.
